In 1961

JFK launched one of the most successful missions in history--

to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade.

We believe in big, bold missions.

In fact, we love them.  At the same time, we don't take them lightly.  We can't. We've seen too much.

To execute big missions (growth, innovation, change), a lot has to go right.  Success doesn't happen by accident.  It's a perfect combination of vision, strategy, planning, process, technology, culture and implementation.

1961 exists to help leaders bring these missions to reality.

Areas of Practice

Strategy

Success starts with clarity—who you are, why you are unique and what guides everything you do.  We ensure that our clients have clarity around their brands, aspirations, market strategies and intended leadership positions as context for their people to be successful.

process

We may be geeks.  But we think Deming was a genius.  Successful leaders understand that quality, consistency, efficiency and innovation are rooted in effective processes.  It may not seem sexy.  But margin and profits are optimized by effective processes.  And we think profits are sexy.

planning

Effective planning significantly increases the chances for success.  Planning consists of both the output of a plan and the process to continually learn,  evolve, update and grow.  We work with our clients to create both.

leadership evolution

We don’t really believe in leadership development.  We believe in leadership evolution…creating clarity that transforms leaders in who they are and how they show up.  We do that by exposing leaders to their own personal beliefs and how those beliefs both create success and hold them back.

project management

Missions are comprised of a bunch of projects.  Sometimes, our clients need help structuring, staffing and managing important projects to ensure their success.  Since we love results, we do enjoy a good project.

organizational performance

People are the fuel of organizations.  When they are truly aligned, organizations reach momentum.  We work to integrate and align teams around strategies and missions and through transitions, change and mergers.

We must all obey the great law of change. It is the most powerful law of nature.
